Day 4: Family Life in Getxo

by Natalie Talbot and Abby Chipman

Today was the first full day with our exchange families. We all started our day out having breakfast with the family and then meeting up at the Metro to go on our adventure!
We did not know where we were going, but when we got there, we were very surprised. We went to Bakio and hiked up a very very tall mountain to get to the church called San Juan de Gaztelugatxe

On our way up to the church we were all in awe by the beautiful cliffs and beach. The hike up the hill was the hardest part of this exchange by far! When we reached the top it was extremely rewarding to ring the bell and take on the beautiful view. We had lunch at the church and relaxed together. We felt blessed to be able to look at the scenery. Walking back up the hill from the church was extremely difficult but after that it was all down hill.

We ended our little excursion by sitting on the beach until the bus came. We sat in the sand and compared ours day to each other. The sun was starting to the set when we were on the beach and eating ice cream, and it showed through everyone's burnt faces that we were as relaxed as possible. This was one of the most active and rewarding days so far and we can't wait to see what else Spain has in store for us!
